- Sergeant Danylo Sorokin (call sign Soroka) was killed on January 18, 2024 near the settlement of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar fire. On December 31, the fighter would have turned 27 years old. Danylo was from the city of Ternivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. After school, he graduated from the local vocational school No. 17, where he obtained the profession of an automotive mechanic. After serving his conscription in 2016-2019, he served under contract in the 3rd Special Operations Regiment, participating in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) / Joint Forces Operation (JFO). In civilian life, he worked as a miner at the Zakhidno-Donbas mine. He was passionate about sports and interested in arm wrestling. On March 10, 2022, Danylo returned to the military and went back to the front line. He served in the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He was an operator-shooter of the unmanned aerial vehicle platoon of the assault company. He regularly underwent training and gained extensive experience. At the front, he confidently demonstrated his abilities. "My husband is a patriot of his country, he never doubted his actions and strength. He knew what he was doing. Thanks to him, two defenders were released from captivity. He gave his life for this! He was killed with honor, without waiting for our wedding, leaving a part of himself," said Natalia Gardt. The hero was buried in the New Cemetery in his hometown. Danylo is survived by his parents, a civil wife, and a daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
