Danylo V. Zemskov (Dania)

Junior Sergeant Danylo Zemskov (call sign Drug) was killed on August 14, 2023 near the village of Dibrova in the Luhansk region. He suffered a shrapnel wound to the head while carrying out a combat mission and was killed on the spot. The defender was 33 years old forever. Danilo was born in the city of Koryukivka, Chernihiv region. After school, he studied at a vocational school to become a woodworker, but did not graduate and never worked in the profession. His vocation was the management of sailing yachts and the design of yachts and travel planning. He earned the title of Candidate Master of Sports in sailing. In 2014, he participated in the ATO as part of the volunteer association "Hospitallers". He fought in Pisky and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. Later, he returned to civilian life. In the last few years, he produced rubber sailing boats that can be taken on airplanes for himself and his friends. He worked on a private ship. With the start of the full-scale war, the man again without hesitation decided to defend his country. Danilo fought in the ranks of the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a senior combat medic in the engineering and sapper company of the engineering support group and repeatedly saved the lives of his comrades-in-arms. "He loved to travel by bicycle, rivers and seas in an inflatable boat that he made himself. He rode more than 100 kilometers on an ordinary scooter. He was engaged in diving. In winter, when the ice was good, he went on a buyer. He always had something to tell - a million interesting stories. He wrote a little poetry. But the sea, water, and sails attracted him the most. Since 2014, as a patriot of his country, he has taken up its defense. Then he returned to civilian life, but... The year 2022 passed... Without hesitation, he signed a contract. I can't even say how many lives he saved in 1.5 years, never getting a vacation, never making a proposal to his girlfriend, never hugging his mother, whom he missed so much. At the age of 33, everything ended..." - the mother of the fallen said. "For all his loved ones, Danilo was the best person in life. He could always support and lift the mood with his jokes. He was very cheerful, loved life. But despite the fact that he was always smiling, he remained serious and fair. He was always faithful to his principles. And even before February 24, he knew that he would be one of the first to defend the country. He couldn't do otherwise. Over the years of the war, he studied to become a paramedic. He was one of the best in this, took the position of chief medical officer and gained great respect among more experienced medics," added his beloved Anastasia Verkhomiy. The hero was buried in the city of Ukrainka in the Kyiv region, where he lived in recent years. Danilo is survived by his mother Olga Alexandrovna, sister Evgenia, twin brother Kirill, girlfriend Anastasia, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms, dog Shprits and cat Vanta.
