- Servicewoman Daryna Stepanenko (call sign Mara) was killed on May 24, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Terny in the Donetsk region. She was 33 years old. Daryna was born in the Lozivska community in the Kharkiv region. She first graduated from the Krasnopavlivskyi educational complex, and then obtained the profession of a passenger car conductor at the railway transport lyceum. In 2009, she began working at the Kharkiv car section of the Passenger Company branch. In May 2023, the woman voluntarily applied to the military enlistment office. She successfully passed the selection of candidates for enlistment. She chose the path of a shooter in a combat unit. She explained her motivation for service by saying that she was ready to protect the future of her daughter, whom she raised alone. Daryna held the position of senior operator of the 1st anti-tank platoon of the 44th separate rifle battalion. Colleagues recall that she easily integrated into the new team, as she knew how to communicate simply, sincerely, and in a friendly manner. "Daryna conscientiously approached her work. She was honest, active, and open. Everyone knew Daryna as a combative, restless person, she was in constant motion, always fighting for justice," her railway colleagues said about the deceased. The defender left behind a daughter and a mother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
