Denys A. Myshalov (Haidamak)

Denis Andriiovych Myshalov was born on September 1, 2001 in the city of Shpola, Cherkasy region. He studied at the Shpolyansky Lyceum No. 1 and at a music school, where he learned to play the guitar. After graduating from high school, he entered the Smilyansky Technical School of Food Technologies. In 2019, he completed a training course for junior commanders at the "Aksyon and Khoma Junior Commanders School". In August 2020, after completing the course for young fighters, he joined the ranks of the Azov Regiment. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was at the forefront. Together with the Azov fighters, he defended the city of Mariupol, holding the position of a grenadier. During the time he was surrounded in Mariupol, Denis Myshalov was wounded three times. He last made contact with his relatives on April 20, 2022. On April 25, the Azov Patron Service, "according to a comrade-in-arms", reported that Denis Myshalov had been killed on April 20. Four months later, when part of the Azovstal defenders were released from captivity on September 24, 2022, it became known that Denis was alive and had been with everyone at Azovstal. He was then taken prisoner. In particular, he was held in the Olenivka pre-trial detention center until the terrorist attack, and after that he was transferred to another pre-trial detention center, where he is still being held.
