Denys M. Puzyr (Puzyr)

Soldier Denis Puzyr was killed on February 17, 2023 while performing a combat mission near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Near the village of Ivanivske, the defender came under enemy artillery fire and received fatal injuries. He was 23 years old. Denis was born in the city of Vatutine, Cherkasy region. When he was 4 years old, his mother passed away. The boy, his two sisters and brother were raised by his mother's sister and her husband. They lived in the village of Khashchovannia, Lviv region. Denis studied at the local school. Later, he obtained the profession of a carpenter-parquet layer at the Lviv Higher Vocational School. In 2018-2021, he served under contract in the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. After being discharged, he returned home and went to work in the Czech Republic. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Denis returned to Ukraine and again stood up to defend it. He served in the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. "You can write a lot. He was the best brother and a wonderful person. Kind, sincere, always cheerful. Eternal memory to the Hero," wrote the sister of the fallen Yana. "The former student, graduate Denis Puzyr, was killed by the hands of the Russian invaders. Denys, courageous, skilled, sociable, brave, kind, you will forever remain in our hearts," the Khashchovannia school page noted. The warrior was buried in the village of Khashchovannia. Denis is survived by his guardians Lyubov and Mykola, brother Roman, s isters Yulia and Yana, nephew Leon, and nieces Viktoria and Sophia.
