- Denys Koval (call sign Sever", Canada), a member of the "Azov" battalion, was killed on April 5, 2022, during a battle with the occupiers near the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region. He was 39 years old, having turned 39 just three days prior. Denys was born in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. He obtained the profession of a cook at Severodonetsk Vocational School No. 92. From the age of 6, he was passionate about sports, including boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, powerlifting (he won the regional champion title and the rank of Candidate Master of Sports), and running. He was a multiple medalist in competitions and led an active life. In civilian life, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activities. In 2015, he volunteered for the war. He took the call sign Sever". He served in the "Luhansk-1" battalion, held the position of reconnaissance group commander in the 8th separate special operations regiment, and served in the separate special forces unit "Omega". Eventually, he transferred to the separate special forces unit of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov", where he became the commander of the anti-aircraft section of the fire support platoon. He took the call sign Canada". For his service, Sergeant Denys Koval was awarded the Order of Courage of the III and II degrees (the second one posthumously). "I am very proud to have met such a person in my life: the best, the dearest, the reliable, the loving. He is the one who is with you and for you to the end! A person like him is one in a million!" said the wife of the fallen warrior, Kateryna. Due to the occupation of Mariupol, the family was unable to say goodbye to the hero.
