Denys V. Subbota (Elektro)

Sergeant Denis Subota (call sign Elektro) was killed on December 30, 2022 near the village of Ternyi in Donetsk region during a mortar attack on the positions. The defender was 32 years old. Denis was born in the capital. He studied at Kyiv Secondary School No. 300. Then he worked as a general laborer. After completing his military service, he signed a 3-year contract. In 2016-2017, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. In peacetime, he worked as an electrician-fitter in various institutions. He wanted to enroll in a part-time program to get a higher education, but did not have time. He loved hiking in the mountains and relaxing in nature. During the full-scale war, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his country from the occupiers. He served in the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of senior rifleman. "Denis grew up in a large family. The mother raised 4 children alone. Denis was the youngest in the family. From childhood, he was very hardworking. Even as a schoolboy, he took various small jobs home: assembling pens, gluing envelopes. He was a good-natured person, a good brother, a friend. He always came to help when someone needed it. He wanted to start a family, have children, but the full-scale invasion thwarted all his plans," his sister said. The warrior was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. Denis is survived by a brother, two sisters, three nephews and a niece.
