Dmytro A. Kanevskyi

Soldier Dmytro Kanievskyi was killed on October 16, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Dvorichna in the Kharkiv region. During the movement of an automobile convoy, Ukrainian defenders came under enemy mortar fire. Dmytro sustained fatal injuries. He was 26 years old. Dmytro was born in the settlement of Zavallia in the Kirovohrad region. He studied at a boarding school there. In 2013, he enrolled in the Ulyanovsk Vocational Technical College and gained the profession of a welder. After graduating, he worked in his specialty in Kyiv. From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered. Initially, he was a fighter in the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of Kyiv. On March 14, Dmytro took an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. Later, he became a machine gunner in the rifle squad of the 192nd Separate Battalion of Territorial Defense of the 124th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "We were together for many years. After the divorce, there was good contact and communication. The divorce happened because things didn't work out. A good friend and partner, he always went first to help friends and loved ones," said the deceased's ex-wife, Aliona. The defender was buried in his native settlement in the Kirovohrad region. Dmytro is survived by his mother, brothers, sisters, son, and ex-wife.
