Dmytro A. Polozhentsev

Junior Lieutenant Dmytro Polozhentsev was killed on March 31, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission at the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, Donetsk region. The warrior was 25 years old. Dmytro was born in Yenakiieve, Donetsk region. In 2018, he graduated from the Priazovsk State Technical University. He worked at the metallurgical plant. In 2019, he enrolled in the military department in Zaporizhzhia and received the rank of officer. "Dmytro dreamed of being a military, so he consciously went to study at the military department. He loved sports and went to the gym," say his relatives. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro joined the ranks of the 109th separate brigade of the territorial defense. "Dmytro loved Mariupol and wanted to live there. Unfortunately, his dreams did not come true. He was calm, sociable, and intelligent," recall his relatives. "Dmytro could have become a new generation of Mariupol: educated, promising, but his life was cut short during the defense of the city of Mary." For more than a month, Dmytro, along with his comrades-in-arms, defended Mariupol. He was the commander of the 2nd rifle platoon. "Communication with the brother was interrupted on March 31, 2022. Then he was at Azovstal. No more information. Months of waiting, months of searching among prisoners and the dead did not yield results. The body was handed over from Mariupol in July 2022. Without documents and other things by which he could be identified. And only on June 10, 2023, we were able to say goodbye to Dmytro. Glory to you, our Hero! You gave the most precious thing for a free Mariupol - your life," wrote his cousin Tetiana Tlustova. Dmytro was buried in the cemetery in Yahotyn, Kyiv region. At home, the defender was awaited by his parents and other relatives.
