- Volunteer Dmytro Ukrainets was killed on March 5, 2022, defending the city of Irpin in the Kyiv region. While on patrol, the car he was in with his comrade came under enemy ambush. Russian troops shot the defenders at close range and then finished them off. Dmytro was born and lived in Irpin. He graduated from the Borodianka Vocational School. He worked as the chief mechanic at Kreola LLC. He was passionate about cars and always did everything with a smile. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro joined the local territorial defense to protect his hometown. On March 4, he persuaded his wife to evacuate with the children, while he went on patrol. His wife and son were able to leave for Kyiv by evacuation train, but Dmytro could not join them. They left him a final note. His last voice message indicated that he did not intend to die and was waiting to reunite with his family. However, communication with him was lost, and his wife was informed of his death on March 8. Dmytro was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown. He is survived by his wife, son, and two daughters. He was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Irpin" and the decoration "For the Defense of the Native State."Memory Platform 'Memorial'
