- Senior soldier Dmytro Zimych (call sign Zima) was killed on October 9, 2022, near the village of Odradivka in Donetsk region. During offensive operations, he sustained fatal explosive injuries due to enemy shelling. Three days prior, the warrior turned 26 years old. Dmytro was born in the village of Vyazivne in the Volyn region. In 2012, he graduated from a general education school of I–II degrees in his hometown. He then stu at the Lyubeshiv Technical College, where he obtained the profession of a tractor driver-machine operator in agricultural production in 2015. Three years later, he received a second specialty in "Maintenance and Repair of Engines" at the same institution. In the fall of 2018, he was drafted for compulsory military service, which he completed in Cherkasy region. In civilian life, he worked abroad in construction. During the full-scale invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stood up to defend his country from Russian occupiers. The man served in the 214th Separate Special Battalion "OPFOR," holding the position of a grenade launcher. In September 2022, Dmytro came on leave. On September 9, he married his beloved, and exactly one month later, he was killed. "Dima was a cheerful, conscientious, honest, decent, and responsible person, always ready to help. He loved, valued, and respected his parents and wife very much. He was a true patriot of his homeland, for which he gave the most precious thing — his life. I am very proud of my young brother, who at the age of 26 was not afraid to face death. He knew he was risking his life for the freedom of his people, for his homeland," said the deceased's sister, Yulia Herec. The hero was buried in his hometown. Dmytro is survived by his parents Larysa Ivanivna and Anatoliy Fedorovych, sister Yulia, and wife Sofia.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
