- Sailor Dmytro Dmitriev (call sign Denchyk) was killed on June 26, 2023, covering the retreat of his comrades in the area of the village of Staromaiorskoye in the Donetsk region. An enemy shell hit the trench from which he was firing a machine gun at the positions of the occupiers. The warrior was forever 28 years old. Dmytro was born and lived in Mykolaiv. He graduated from general education school No. 1 named after Oleg Olzhych. Then he studied at the Odesa Maritime Academy and the Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, but did not finish his studies, as he did not feel drawn to the chosen professions. He worked in construction, helped in the manufacture and laying of paving slabs. He played percussion, guitar, and had an excellent ear. He loved music. He adored animals. He always helped them because he wanted every living being to feel needed. The man never wanted to connect his life with the army, but February 24, 2022 changed his plans. During the full-scale invasion, he could not stay at home. Despite the desire to defend his native country, he was not taken into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to lack of experience. A year later, he came again and was sent for military training in the UK, where he ended up in the top five. When he returned to Ukraine, he became a machine gunner of the 35th separate brigade of the marine corps and went to Donbas. "Dima was so sincere and kind that everyone was always amazed. But when it was necessary to protect his loved ones or the weaker ones, he showed all his strength and courage. A person as is, without masks and hypocrisy. He was always ready to come to the aid of friends, family. He was an incredibly sincere person to everyone, he always told the truth, he was not afraid to be himself," said the warrior's sister Sofia. Dmytro is survived by his parents and younger sister.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
