Dmytro I. Lykov (Metro)

Military serviceman Dmytro Lykov (call sign Metro) was killed on September 5, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Zvanivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 36 years old. Dmytro was born and lived in the city of Brovary, Kyiv region. He stu at school No. 5. In 2004, he graduated from the Kyiv Higher Professional School of Railway Transport, obtaining the profession of an electric locomotive assistant driver. He worked in the Kyiv Metro: first as a driver, then as a locksmith for the inspection and repair of locomotives. In his free time, he loved going to nature and gathering with family. During the full-scale war, in March 2022, Dmytro volunteered, not waiting for a summons. He held the position of a shooter in the security platoon of the 2nd department of the Chernihiv RTC and SP. In May, he was transferred to the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa as a grenade launcher. Later, he took the position of senior driver. "My husband was very brave, strong, persistent, always fought for justice. He loved life, family, and work," said the widow of the fallen, Natalia. "He didn't wait for a summons; he decided to go to war himself. 'Not to become a hero, but so that our daughters have a future,' Dmytro explained his decision to his wife. He really wanted to return, but in Zvanivka near Bakhmut, their position was hit by artillery fire. Dmytro from multiple shrapnel wounds. The defender was buried at the Alley of Heroes in his hometown of Brovary. At home, Dmytro was awaited by his wife and two daughters.
