- A 23-year-old company commander, Captain Dmytro Yaremkiv (call sign Attila), was killed on April 9, 2022, during an artillery shelling near the city of Popasna in Luhansk region. Dmytro was born in Lviv region in a military family. When he finished school, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and entered the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. In his free time, he loved to spend time in nature and fish. After graduation, the young officer chose the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel for service. He chose the call sign Attila because, according to Dmytro, "firstly, it sounds original. Secondly, Attila was a conqueror, a commander. So, I decided that such a call sign would suit me." When the full-scale invasion began, Captain Yaremkiv had already been on the front lines for almost a year. However, despite fatigue, the fighters of the 24th Brigade were holding back the enemy's advance in Luhansk region with dignity. Unfortunately, during one of these attacks, the officer was killed. "Dima was a real officer, the one people admired and looked up to. He was brave, devoted, disciplined, fair. Looking at his smile and into his eyes, you wanted to live, catch happy moments and never be sad. Being in the real hell on earth, he never complained about anything, his answer to any question was: 'Everything will be fine.' He loved so much that he was ready to give his life," said Maria Zelinka, Dmytro's fiancee. The defender was buried in his native village in Lviv region. At home, Dmytro was awaited by his parents, brother, and fiancee.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
