- Major Dmytro Turushev (call sign Fizruk) died on August 17, 2023 in Russian captivity. He fell into enemy hands in 2022 while fighting in the Kharkiv direction. He had recently been in the Russian city of Kashin. Dmytro was 43 years old. He was born in Cherkasy. After graduating from school No. 27, he received his education at the Odesa Institute of Ground Forces. He then served in the airborne troops in Kropyvnytskyi. After being discharged in 2003, he worked in various fields, including construction and security at a factory. He was known to have golden hands and could repair anything on his own. He participated in combat operations in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. He was wounded and received several awards for his service. At the start of the full-scale invasion, he went to the military enlistment office and served in the 4th separate Ivan Vyhovsky tank brigade. He held the position of head of the logistics service. In June 2022, he was captured by the Russians near Izium. "My brother was kind, caring, and always cared for everyone. The life of the party, very sociable. He had many friends and kept in touch with everyone," said his sister Svitlana Mulyavka. On August 31, 2023, the man's body was exchanged. A few days later, in September, the investigative department called his mother and informed her, asking her to come for identification. The soldier was buried in the Alley of Glory in Cherkasy.
