- Senior sailor Dmytro Shchytov (call sign Shield) was killed on May 11, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Toshkivka in Luhansk region. In June, he would have turned 30 years old. Dmytro was born in the village of Bereka in Kharkiv region. He studied at Bereka Secondary School. In 2010, he graduated from the First Mai Professional College and obtained qualifications as a bricklayer, welder, and installer. He worked at a factory. In 2016, he enlisted in the military under contract in the ranks of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 35th Separate Marine Brigade. He participated in the ATO/OOS in Donbas. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Dmytro, along with his comrades, continued to defend Ukraine from the occupiers at the front. "Dmytro was a very kind and cheerful person. He said he would definitely come back from the war victorious. He dreamed of returning to a peaceful life and buying a house," said the soldier's ex-wife, Olga. The marine was buried in his native village. Dmytro is survived by his daughter Polina, who was 10 years old at the time of her father's death. Posthumously, Senior Sailor Dmytro Shchytov was awarded the Order of Courage III class.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
