Biography
Dmytro Mykolaiovych Vasyliev was born on February 20, 1978, in the city of Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region. After graduating from school in 1995, he entered the Khmelnytskyi Command Artillery School, which he completed in 2000. Subsequently, Dmytro was assigned to the city of Khmelnytskyi, where he progressed to the position of commander of the missile division of the 19th Missile Brigade "Saint Barbara." He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO). From the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Vasyliev skillfully commanded the missile division, which delivered precise strikes on an enemy convoy near the village of Chonhar in the Kherson region. As a result of this strike, up to a hundred units of enemy equipment and personnel were destroyed. From February 24 to March 18, 2022, the missile division under Dmytro Vasyliev's command struck at enemy troop concentrations near the settlements of Vasylivka, Tokmak, Melitopol, Polohy, Huliaipole, Kamianka, Dniprovske, Berdiansk, and Velyka Bilozirka, destroying a significant number of the occupiers' forces and resources. On March 18, Dmytro Vasyliev and his unit came under fire in the Zaporizhzhia region and died the following day from severe wounds. He was buried on March 23, 2022, in the Alley of Glory in the city of Khmelnytskyi. He is survived by his wife and two children.Burial place
