Dmytro O. Katan

Soldier Dmytro Katan was killed on December 18, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. On December 1, the defender turned 29 years old. Dmytro was born in the village of Myshiv, Volyn region. He obtained the profession of an electric welder at the Novovolynsk Vocational School No. 11. He worked on construction sites. He loved animals, especially dogs. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing. In the first days of the full-scale war, Dmytro joined the ranks of the territorial defense. Later, he received a summons and became a fighter of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he carried out combat missions on the front line. "Dima was very cheerful, kind, sincere, he never refused anyone and always tried to help everyone. When he was taken to Bakhmut, he even calmed us all down and said that he would definitely return. But he returned not as we expected. He really wanted to start his own family. But it was not meant to be," said Olga, the defender's beloved. "The entire community at this bitter time expresses sincere condolences to the parents and relatives, all relatives, loved ones and friends on the premature death of our fellow countryman and Hero - Dmytro Katan, and shares their grief. Eternal memory to the Hero!" noted the Ivanychiv settlement council. The warrior was buried in his native village. The Hero had a large and friendly family: parents, two sisters and a brother, a grandmother, uncles and a beloved girl with whom he wanted to get married.
