Dmytro O. Prokhorov

Senior soldier Dmytro Prokhorov was killed on February 24, 2022 in a battle with Russian invaders in the village of Borysivka, Kharkiv region. While defending the state border of Ukraine, the warrior received an explosive injury as a result of a missile and artillery bombardment. Dmytro was 24 years old. He was born in the village of Vasylkiv, Cherkasy region. He studied at the local school. Then he entered the Vasylkiv Vocational Lyceum. In civilian life, he worked together with his father in the Kyiv region, at a warehouse of vegetables and fruits. In 2020-2021, he served his military service in the canine training center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and in the Kharkiv border detachment. He held the position of an operator of the video surveillance and alarm system complex group of the communication department of the border service department "Veselie". "Dmytryk was a good person, decent, courageous. He never abandoned anyone in trouble. We dreamed of starting a family, raising children, loved each other very much... When I found out that the DNA test confirmed Dmytro's death, a part of my soul seemed to have was killed with this news. I never even imagined in my thoughts that at 19 I would become a widow, without even having time to get married," wrote Iryna Kilchenko, the fiancée of the fallen. Dmytro's body was long searched for, and only after the liberation of the Kharkiv region from the occupiers, the relatives were able to conduct a DNA test. The data matched on January 27, 2023. The defender was buried on February 1, 2023 in his native Vasylkiv. Dmytro Prokhorov is survived by his parents, fiancée, aunt, and grandmother. Dmytro Prokhorov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, Third Degree.
