Dmytro O. Savchenko

32-year-old Dmytro Savchenko was killed in action on July 15, 2022, near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Russian troops struck the positions of Ukrainian defenders with a missile strike. Dmytro was born in the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. He loved to cook very much, had many friends, and in his childhood, he was called "Sun" for his sincere and kind smile. The guy graduated from the magistracy of the Donbass State Machine-Building Academy with a degree in "Metal Processing by Pressure". He got a job at the Kharkiv plant "Turboatom". The men of his father's family were military, so the guy did not hesitate, even though he had health problems. After demobilization, he returned to his former job. However, when the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, at the request of his father, he returned to Kramatorsk. There he worked as the head of the department at an enterprise for the sale of agricultural products and various electronic devices. In 2020, Dmytro got married, but did not have time to have children. When the full-scale invasion began, the fighter received a summons from the military commissariat. Due to health problems, the man was enlisted in the reserve. He waited for a month and several times went to ask to volunteer for the army. Eventually, they agreed to mobilize him. Dmytro immediately got to the airfield, served in the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of driver-electrician, the main task of their unit was to redeploy radar stations that showed the takeoff of planes from Russian territory. During his service, Dmytro discovered his talent as a chef: he always cooked with pleasure for the unit and raised the fighting spirit of his comrades. The unit was engaged in protecting the territory from the enemy's attack, it was during Dmytro's shift that he was killed as a result of a missile attack. The hero was buried in a military cemetery in the city of Dnipro. Dmytro's father and wife remained.
