Dmytro O. Zatochnyi (Tykhyi)

40-year-old senior sergeant Dmytro Zatochnyi (call sign "Tykhy) was killed on March 4, 2023, in battle with the enemy near the village of Vodiane in the Donetsk region. During enemy mortar shelling, the warrior sustained fatal explosive injuries. Dmytro was born in the city of Cherkasy. He graduated from city secondary school No. 24. He then worked as a general laborer. In 2015-2017, he participated in the ATO as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He got married and moved to the village of Bohodukhivka in the Cherkasy region. Before the invasion, he worked at the Chornobai Production Department of Housing and Communal Services. With the start of the full-scale invasion, he took up arms again and went to war. He fought in the ranks of the 118th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman-assistant grenadier of the grenade launcher platoon of the fire support company of the 157th separate battalion. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Donetsk direction. "He was sensitive, kind, polite, friendly, and always came to help. He was devoted to the military oath," said the deceased's wife, Liubov. "He was kind, cheerful, the one who would help and rescue at any moment. We lost a true friend and brother," added his comrades-in-arms. The defender was buried in the village of Bohodukhivka in the Cherkasy region. Dmytro is survived by his wife, brother, and grandmother.
