- 34-year-old paratrooper Dmytro Liubak (call sign Kurt) was killed on March 25, 2023 near the settlement of Bilohirivka in the Luhansk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he suffered a fatal explosive injury. Dmytro was born and lived in Kyiv. He obtained a higher education at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky", where he graduated from the Faculty of Electronics. He was passionate about music and played bass guitar in bands in the capital. He also engaged in sports. During the full-scale war, Dmytro joined the ranks of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 122nd battalion of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. "A patriot of Ukraine who gave his life 'for Freedom, the Holy Land! For the blue that flourishes over the field! For his golden Motherland! For the dreamed-of freedom and destiny!' - these are the words from Dmytro's song," wrote his mother Olena Liubak. "A patriot, a conscientious, good and talented person, a loving son and father gave his young life for the freedom of Ukraine," noted the KPI. Posthumously, soldier Dmytro Liubak was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. The defender was buried at the Berkovets cemetery in Kyiv.
