Dmytro S. Bortsoi (Barik)

38-year-old soldier Dmytro Bortsoi (call sign Barik) was killed on July 19, 2023, from wounds received in an ambulance during the evacuation stage. He was wounded in combat with the enemy near the village of Oleksandro-Shultyne in the Donetsk region. Dmytro was born in Kyiv. He graduated from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine with a degree in "Organization of Production". He was passionate about cars. In civilian life, he worked as a taxi driver. He loved to spend his free time with his family and friends. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man first joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces, and in 2023 he became a fighter of the 401st separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a rifleman-medic. "By nature, he was calm and balanced, there were no complaints from clients in a certain service sector, only positive feedback. He was a positive person. He had many friends," his wife said. The defender was buried at the Berkovets cemetery in Kyiv. At home, Dmytro was awaited by his wife Darya and daughter Kira, who was 2 months old at the time of her father's death.
