Dmytro S. Kalchytskyi (Vodolaz)

Soldier Dmytro Kalchytskyi (call sign Diver) was killed on June 7, 2023, in a fierce battle with the occupiers near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The defender was 28 years old. Dmytro was born in Chernihiv. He studied at Chernihiv City School No. 4. In 2013, he graduated from the Chernihiv Vocational Lyceum of Railway Transport. He continued his studies at the Kharkiv Academy of Railway Transport. In 2014, he participated in the Kharkiv Euromaidan, where he suffered serious head injuries during the clashes. However, the following year, he went on a contract military service and went to war. Until 2019, he participated in the ATO / JFO in Donbas. In peacetime, he worked in various fields. He was passionate about motorcycles. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro returned to the ranks of the defenders. He served in the separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. He held the position of grenadier assistant. "Dima was a very good person. He always came to help, kind, but with a steel core, smart. He is now our angel," said the deceased's friend. The soldier was buried in his native Chernihiv. Dmytro is survived by his parents, younger brother, and grandmother.
