- 29-year-old sergeant of the Azov regiment Dmytro Samofalov was killed on March 24, 2022, during a battle with Russian occupiers for Mariupol. Dmytro was born in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. He loved sports, especially football. After school, he served in Simferopol. Then he got into a crowd on the set of the film "Haytarma". Later he worked in the Bakhmut pre-trial detention center. Since 2020, he has been working in the pre-trial detention center in Kharkiv. Dmytro dreamed of serving in Azov. So when he received an offer in 2021, he immediately moved to Mariupol. On duty, he received the call sign Protein. According to his sister Tetyana, Dmytro knew his job well and always took it seriously. He was a great friend and companion, never refused to help, and could always be relied upon. Calm, positive, kind-hearted and reasonable. He loved his family very much, for which he gave the most valuable thing - his life. In August 2021, Dmytro married Natalya. He gave his beloved wife a French bulldog named Oscar, whom he himself adored. They planned and wanted children. However, the war destroyed all the dreams of the young couple. It seemed to me that our whole life together was that there are no people like you, my love. I found everything that should be in a real man in you! You know how I didn't want to leave you there, in Mariupol, although it's an honor for a man to defend his family, home! We planned children, dreamed about it, talked a lot, but life is so cruel and unfair. I know you were a happy person, a man. You lived this life with dignity and left with dignity. You saw how persistently I fought for you when they told me the most terrible thing. I didn't believe anyone, I was looking, calling, shouting, but I didn't believe. And so for almost 5 months. Until one day they showed me you. I felt it without even looking, Natalya wrote on social media. Dmytro left behind his wife, parents, and sister. Sergeant Dmytro Samofalov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
