- 23-year-old Senior Sergeant Dmytro Shcherbinin (call sign Kamaz) was killed on September 12, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Dmytro was born and lived in Mykolaiv. In childhood, he was engaged in freestyle wrestling, participated in competitions, and took prize-winning places. He dreamed of achieving success in MMA. After school, he obtained the profession of a locksmith at the Mykolaiv Vocational School. He started working early, as he always wanted to be independent and provide for himself. He dreamed of serving in the airborne troops, so after his military service, he decided to sign a contract with the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On June 21, 2021, Dmytro became a fighter of the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He held the position of senior gunner. Later, he went to perform combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation. Dmytro, together with his comrades-in-arms, met the full-scale war on the positions near the city of Shchastia in the Luhansk region. From the first days of the invasion, the paratroopers continued to fight the Russian occupiers in Donbas. "He never asked me for anything, he earned his own living. He was very persistent and always got what he wanted. When he went to the army, he immediately decided that it would be the airborne troops. He was not immediately accepted, there were obstacles, but he said: only the airborne troops. How he rejoiced when he was taken! He loved the airborne troops with all his heart. The first jump... He was so happy! Dmytro was very cheerful, fair, kind and cheerful, always acted according to his conscience and at the call of his heart, supported those who needed it. I know that I raised a courageous, decent man, a true hero. He was highly valued and respected by his friends, comrades, colleagues, and brothers-in-arms. They are proud to have known him personally. He dreamed of his own home, we never had one... He dreamed of going on vacation together after the war. He dreamed of children. And I dreamed of grandchildren (he said there would be two). It's so painful. I'm ready to give up everything in the world to hear that a terrible mistake happened and my son is alive. Contact with him was lost on September 10, they did not immediately inform us about his death, they said he was considered missing. They searched for three months. I went to the morgue myself, where his body was. On November 29, a DNA match notification came. We buried him on December 7, 2022, next to his grandfather. I still can't believe it happened," said the mother of the fallen Hanna. Dmytro was buried in his hometown. At home, he was awaited by his mother and sister.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
