Dmytro S. Verhun (Urahan)

41-year-old soldier Dmytro Vergun (call sign Hurricane) was killed on June 11, 2024 near the village of Novovodiane in Luhansk region. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of a munition drop from an enemy FPV drone. Dmytro was born in the village of Hradivka, Lviv region. He lived in the village of Drozdovychi. He obtained the profession of a carpenter at a vocational school. In peacetime, he worked as a construction worker. He devoted his free time to his family. In 2014, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, went through battles for Ilovaisk. With the start of the full-scale invasion, the man went to the front again. He fought in the ranks of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of a rifleman - a grenade launcher assistant. He was awarded the "Golden Cross" distinction. "A brave patriot of Ukraine. A person who cares about the fate of Ukraine. From the first days of the great war, he was in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said the deceased's wife Khrystyna. The defender was buried in the village of Drozdovychi in the Lviv region. Dmytro is survived by his mother, wife and two children.
