Dmytro V. Klymenko (Sanych)

Born on July 18, 1980, in the village of Kam'yanka, Kakhovka district, Kherson region. Graduated from a general education school. Until the autumn of 2015, he was a member of the Volunteer Ukrainian Corps "Right Sector." On September 18, 2015, he was called up for military service under contract by the Krasnoarmiysk-Selydivka Combined Military Commissariat of Donetsk region to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a machine gunner in the reconnaissance platoon of the 1st battalion of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302 (field post V2830), the urban-type settlement of Cherkaskoye, Novomoskovsk district, Dnipropetrovsk region). Since the autumn of 2016, he was a rifleman-sanitizer in the 1st mechanized section of the 3rd mechanized platoon of the 3rd mechanized company of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Operational Command "East" of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0693 (field post V2970), the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region). Call sign "Sanych." Since March 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He was involved in the defense of the village of Pisky in the Yasynuvata district of Donetsk region (spring-summer 2015), battles near the "Butivka-Donetsk" mine in the area of the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region (from autumn 2015 to February 2016), and battles at the Svitlodarsk bulge (from autumn 2016). On December 18, 2016, starting at 5:50, in the area of the Svitlodarsk bulge, after a prolonged artillery preparation using mortars and field artillery, the Russian-occupation forces attempted to dislodge the forward units of the anti-terrorist operation forces from their positions and execute a flanking maneuver towards the urban-type settlement of Luhanske in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. Repelling the enemy's attacks, Ukrainian soldiers launched a counterattack and occupied two new positions near the occupied village of Kalynivka in the Bakhmut district. In these battles, during an artillery shelling, soldier Dmytro Klymenko was killed. On December 22, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Kam'yanka, Kakhovka district, Kherson region.
