Dmytro V. Pilat

28-year-old senior soldier Dmytro Pilat was killed on December 10, 2023 near the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. He sustained fatal injuries during the evacuation of his comrade's body. His vehicle was hit by an enemy shell. Dmytro was born in the city of Lypovets, Vinnytsia region. He studied at Khmilnytskyi National University, majoring in Regional Studies. He was skilled in and enjoyed construction and repair work, which he pursued professionally. However, he did not have the chance to complete the renovation of his own apartment. During the full-scale war, the man joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in the 14th Operational Purpose Brigade "Chervona Kalyna", holding the position of senior rifleman. "Our Dima, Dmytryk, DADDY (as we all called him in the family) was an ideal for his daughter, a wonderful, faithful, loving husband who cared for his girls. He became a brother, a support for my younger sister, a son for his mother-in-law. Dmytro's loss for me is associated with a bird that has had one wing taken away... That's how I feel - it's hard, I'm trying, but so far I can't 'fly' any further... I hope our daughter will grow up and help me further in our 'flight' into our future life, but nothing and no one can replace the pain of losing a husband, a father, a son," shared the warrior's wife Iryna. The National Guard soldier was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in his hometown. Dmytro is survived by his parents, wife and daughter.
