- 31-year-old paratrooper Dmytro Romanenko (call sign Prometheus) was killed on January 3, 2023 during the assault on enemy positions in the area of Marinka, Donetsk region. Since that day, he was considered missing. Later, the occupiers posted a video and photos with the body of the warrior. They reported that in the battle, Dmytro refused to surrender and fought to the last, allowing his comrades to withdraw and be saved. In February 2023, his body was returned to his relatives during an exchange. Dmytro was born and lived in Kyiv. He graduated from Lyceum No. 24. He worked as a builder. He loved life, sports and an active lifestyle. He adored his son and wanted him to grow up in a peaceful country. In August 2022, the man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 79th separate air assault brigade, where he held the position of a rifleman-medic. Together with his comrades, he defended the Marinka direction in the Donetsk region. "Dmytro was a brave warrior, a patriot, a loving son, husband and father of his 8-year-old son. Fair, kind and decent," his father Vitaliy Volodymyrovych described the fallen. The defender was buried at the Baikove Cemetery in the capital. At home, Dmytro was awaited by his father, wife, son, other relatives and friends. Posthumously, Sergeant Dmytro Romanenko was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
