- Defender Dmytro Sushchyk (call sign Zapaden) died on May 6, 2024, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Semenivka in the Donetsk region. His life was cut short by an enemy shell. Dmytro was born in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. He lived in Stryi, Lviv region. He graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic National University and received a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He worked at the "Ekran" factory in Stryi. In 2014, he participated in the Revolution of Dignity. He also became a member of the Volunteer Ukrainian Corps "Right Sector". The man participated in the ATO as part of the 44th separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol. Later, he fought in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". A year before the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily took up the defense of the state again as part of the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade. On August 1, 2023, he was transferred to the 68th Separate Rifle Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He held the position of senior grenade launcher squad leader. During his entire service, Dmytro received the following awards: "Veteran of War", "Participant of the ATO", "Cross of the Ranger-Warrior" of the 1st degree. "Dmytro was a man of honor and dignity. He loved his family very much, but above all, he loved Ukraine," said his cousin Yulia. The military man was buried in the Alley of Glory cemetery in Stryi. Dmytro is survived by his mother, daughter, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
