- Captain Dmytro Torgonsky (call sign Diesel) died on December 2, 2023, during enemy shelling near the settlement of Khromove in the Donetsk region. He was 31 years old. Dmytro was born in Zhytomyr. He studied at the local school No. 19 and in the senior grades at the Zhytomyr Regional Pedagogical Lyceum for Gifted Children. He received his higher education at the Zhytomyr State University named after Ivan Franko, studying at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In parallel, he completed the military department and took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people, receiving the rank of junior lieutenant of the reserve. In 2015, he participated in the ATO. In 2019-2022, he worked at the Korostyshiv District TsTK and SP. He was interested in military affairs, loved active recreation and cars. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he again took up the defense of Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 1st separate special forces brigade named after Ivan Bohun. He was the commander of the 2nd special forces company. He fought on the Donetsk and Kharkiv directions. He was awarded the distinctions "For Courage and Bravery" and "For Loyalty to the Oath". "Always smiling, no matter what happened, no one was ever sad next to him. A person with incredible strength of spirit, he was not afraid to take responsibility. His comrades-in-arms note that Dmytro was a true warrior, an example of courage, indomitability and strength of spirit. He honorably fulfilled the duty to protect his state and remained faithful to the military oath, the Ukrainian people and Ukraine until his last breath," said his cousin Vitaliy Pinchuk. Dmytro was buried at the Smolyansky military cemetery in Zhytomyr. The defender left behind his parents and son.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
