- Senior soldier Dmytro Chayka (call sign Phoenix) was killed in action on July 12, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Bohorodychne in Donetsk region. The defender was 24 years old. Dmytro was born in the village of Verbovka, Chernivtsi region. He received a higher legal education at the Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych. In civilian life, he worked as an electrician at a factory. He was interested in politics and history. With the beginning of the full-scale war, Dmytro became a fighter of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. "My son was a great patriot, even from childhood. He chose a legal education because he always sought justice. And military affairs were his heart's calling, because, despite our persuasion not to go to the army, he still went to defend the Fatherland," said Oksana Chayka. Dmytro was buried in his native village. He left behind his parents, sister, and grandmother. Posthumously, the paratrooper was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
