Eduard M. Vahorovskyi

Eduard Mykolaiovych Vahorovskyi was born on February 26, 1965, in the city of Rubizhne, Luhansk region. Since childhood, he dreamed of becoming a military man. After school, he entered the Stavropol Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots and Navigators. After graduating from the school, he lived for a year in the Orenburg region, where he served in a training regiment. After that, he was assigned to the village of Ozerne in the Zhytomyr region. At the age of 38, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was discharged to the reserve. However, when Russian armed aggression against Ukraine began in 2014, he returned to service. Eduard Vahorovskyi was killed on February 24, 2022, while leading the Ukrainian military aviation out of a missile strike, allowing others to take to the air. He was buried on February 28, 2022, in the village of Ozerne, Zhytomyr region. For personal courage and heroism displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for loyalty to the military oath, Eduard Mykolaiovych Vahorovskyi was posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" with the Order of the Golden Star.
