- Military serviceman Ernest Macharashvili was killed on October 13, 2022, while defending the Kherson region from Russian occupiers. Ernest was born in the city of Rovenky in the Luhansk region. The Macharashvili family had 12 children: six brothers and six sisters. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, the entire family left Luhansk and settled in various cities. Ernest chose Mykolaiv region, where he served for some time in a military unit in the city of Ochakiv. Later, he became a teacher in youth camps in Mykolaiv, instilling correct thoughts and Ukrainian values in the younger generation. When the full-scale war began on February 24, 2022, Ernest and his brother Temuri were abroad. But they returned to Ukraine. Together, they joined the ranks of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front lines. In April, during the liberation of the Zaporizhzhia region, Temuri was killed. And in October, Ernest also fell. "When Rovenky is liberated, we will drive there in Ukrainian tanks and shout: 'Glory to Ukraine!'. Every rat will be caught. Every separatist will be sent to russia, at best. With the same tank, we will demolish the Lenin monument in the local square and symbolically drag it down the entire long street named after that disgraceful name. In its place, we will create a solemn memorial to all the heroes, natives of this city, who fell in this war. And we will rename Lenin Street or Gagarin Square to Macharashvili Brothers Street," wrote sister Ilona Magai-Macharashvili. "The person who became very close to me has , and I still do not want to accept it. I just walk around and cry. Pain has overcome me. Ernest is my wife's brother. He protected our peace. A warrior who went every day for our victory. And I was sure he would reach the finish line. He was my hero, without exaggeration..." wrote the husband of the fallen warrior's sister, Serhiy Magai. The defender was buried at the Berkovetske Cemetery in Kyiv. Ernest left behind a large family and many friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
