Hennadii H. Stepanov

49-year-old junior sergeant Hennadii Stepanov (call sign Borman) died on November 6, 2023 near the village of Kozachi Laheri in the Kherson region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of a tank shelling. Hennadii was born in the city of Izmail, Odesa region. He studied at the Izmail State University of Humanities and obtained the profession of a teacher. He lived in the city of Pivdenne. He worked at the Odesa Port Plant. He spent his free time with his loved ones and friends. In March 2022, the man joined the army to protect his home from Russian invaders. He served in the 126th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior sergeant of the rifle company. "Hennadii bravely performed his duty as a citizen of Ukraine. Until his last breath, he was faithful to his comrades-in-arms and the state. Those who knew him say that people like him are extremely rare. I am proud of my husband-hero. Hennadii gave everything for us, for a free Ukraine and peace, gave his life, having so many plans and unfulfilled dreams," his wife wrote. Hennadii was buried in his hometown. The defender is survived by his mother Nadiia Opanasivna, brother Vladyslav, wife Iryna, and son Mykyta.
