Hennadii M. Makukha

Junior Sergeant Gennadiy Makukha was killed in action on March 20, 2022, during the defense of Kyiv region from the occupiers. During enemy tank shelling near the village of Ozerzhchyna, the defender sustained fatal injuries. He was 42 years old. Gennadiy was born in the village of Kybyntsi, Poltava region. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to the village of Petrivtsi in the same region. He stu at the local school. He then chose a profession in the field of commodity science and graduated from the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics. He worked in his field. In 2015, he participated in the ATO in Donbas. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Gennadiy continued to defend Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 108th Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. He was the commander of the grenade launcher unit. "He was a good person and a good friend. He was always cheerful, never gave up in the face of life's problems. He will remain in the hearts and memories of all who knew him," said the fallen soldier's brother, Serhiy. The serviceman was buried in the village of Petrivtsi in Poltava region. Gennadiy was survived by his mother and brother. Junior Sergeant Gennadiy Makukha was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree. He was also granted the title of "Honorary Citizen of Myrhorod."
