Hennadii M. Pohorelkin

Soldier Gennady Pogorelkin was killed on January 14, 2023 near the village of Spirne in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. On February 2, he would have turned 38 years old. Gennady was born in the village of Solontsi, Kherson region. He graduated from school and a vocational school. In 2004-2005, he served in the military. In civilian life, he worked as an electrician at "Khersonoblenergo". During the full-scale war, the man spent 7 months in occupation in the Kherson region with his family. After the liberation of the region, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since September 2022, he served in the 10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss". He held the position of driver-mechanic. "Always smiling, open, caring, a loving father and a reliable husband," said the wife of the deceased Kateryna. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in Khmilnytskyi, where he found refuge with his family during the great war. Gennady is survived by his wife, son and daughter. Gennady Pogorelkin was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. He was also awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Khmilnytskyi".
