Hennadii V. Baidak (Khytryi)

29-year-old junior sergeant Hennadii Baidak (call sign Khytry) was killed on October 21, 2022 in Bilohirivka, Donetsk region. The defender sustained an explosive injury and a gunshot wound. His comrades tried to resuscitate the man, but in vain. For another six days, the soldier's body could not be evacuated to a safe area. The documents stated the date of death as October 27 - the day the fallen was taken out from under the shelling. According to the soldier's sister, around 60 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers were evacuated at that time. Hennadii was born in the village of Hrushivka, Kharkiv region. He obtained the profession of a mason at the Kharkiv Construction College. He held various positions, but when he was drafted into the army, he went without hesitation. Since 2015, the man has served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Then he continued his contract until the full-scale invasion. The soldier's sister Iryna says that her brother was very proud to be defending his Motherland. He always took care of his subordinates, making sure they had everything necessary for their service. Through his sister and volunteers, he was involved in purchasing clothes for them and more. "Hena told me: 'Iro, I can't be at home. The army is haunting me. How can I sit it out when my guys are there?'" The brother was very proud to serve in the 9th company of the 54th separate mechanized brigade, also known as the immortal and fearless. The defender was buried in the cemetery of his native Hrushivka. He left behind a girlfriend, parents and a sister.
