- Hordun Hennadiy Volodymyrovych was born on September 28, 1963, in the village of Striletskyi Kut, Kitsman District, Chernivtsi Oblast. In 1988, he graduated from the Simferopol Transport College. During his military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Junior Sergeant Hennadiy Hordun established himself as a responsible and conscientious serviceman, approaching the tasks assigned to him with a sense of patriotism. From the first days of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Hennadiy Hordun was called up to the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by mobilization. Since February 2022, the serviceman served as part of the combat unit of the 3rd Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service in the zone of direct hostilities, courageously and selflessly performing combat tasks to defend the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast. On February 5, 2023, border guards, having detected enemy infantry groups, began a firefight. The enemy insidiously advanced under the cover of its artillery, aiming to push back Ukrainian units and occupy platoon strongholds in the area of the village of Maloiliynivka and the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast. During a massive artillery shelling of the positions of Ukrainian defenders, Hennadiy Hordun sustained injuries incompatible with life. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Junior Sergeant Hennadiy Volodymyrovych Hordun was posthumously awarded the Order of “For Courage” of the III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
