Biography
Babich Gleb Valeriyovych (callsign Lentyai) was born on March 2, 1969 in Mykolaiv. His father is the famous Mykolaiv shipbuilder, journalist and author of a number of books on the construction of Soviet aircraft carriers Valeriy Vasylovych Babich, his mother, Yevheniya Valeriivna, is a dentist. He studied at Mykolaiv Gymnasium No. 2 with some subjects taught in English. He said that in his youth he had the creative pseudonym Doctor Lentyai. Before the war, he was engaged in business, wrote music and song lyrics. In Mykolaiv, he organized a recording studio, where he worked from the age of 12, and not only Ukrainian but also foreign musicians recorded there. In 2014-2019, he defended Ukraine during the Russian-Ukrainian war as a specialist in the use of ZSU-23-4 self-propelled anti-aircraft systems, went through six combat rotations, and was discharged for health reasons with the rank of warrant officer. During this period, he wrote a cycle of "front-line" poems and songs in Russian and Ukrainian. In 2018, he wrote the song "Podai Zbroi" (Give Me Weapons), which was performed by the band "Kozak System". In 2014, he wrote the song "Molfar", which was also performed by the band "Kozak System" in 2022. In total, Gleb Babich wrote more than 500 poems and songs. In 2021, he published a book of poems "Virshi ta pisni" (Poems and Songs). He headed the volunteer initiative "Res_Publica. Brothers in Arms", and was an activist of the NGO "Sprava Hromad". He died on July 28, 2022 as a result of a mine explosion on a reconnaissance complex "Loki" near Izium, Kharkiv region.Military service
