Hryhorii H. Troian

Sergeant Hryhoriy Troian was killed on May 29, 2024, during a firefight with the enemy in the village of Tykhe, Kharkiv region. As a result of a drop from an enemy drone, the soldier received injuries incompatible with life. He remained forever 40 years old. Hryhoriy was a native of the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Kherson region. In peacetime, he worked as a track fitter and later as a foreman for the current maintenance and repair of tracks and structures of the Kherson railway division of the Odesa railway. In June 2022, he became a volunteer of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, and in August of the same year he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of squad commander, deputy platoon commander of the 7th battalion "Arey" of the 129th separate territorial defense brigade. He defended Ukraine in the Kherson, Zaporizhia, and Donetsk directions. He was awarded the medals "For Bravery in Battle", "For the Sacrifice of Blood in the Battles for Ukraine", the badge of the "Arey" battalion, and the honorary sign Golden Cross". "Hryhoriy was a brave warrior, a strong, courageous and strong-willed person. With honor and dignity, he, together with his comrades-in-arms, defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state," wrote his wife Lidiia. Hryhoriy is survived by his wife, two daughters, and other relatives.
