Hryhorii M. Sytnyk

Soldier Hryhoriy Sytnyk was killed in action on July 5, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near Bakhmut in Donetsk region. The fighter was 53 years old. Hryhoriy was born in the village of Baturyn, Chernihiv region. He stu at the local secondary school. Then he graduated from Nizhyn Secondary Professional Technical School No. 2. He worked as a turner at the factory. He served his conscript service in the army in Kazakhstan. Then he worked as a guard. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, Hryhoriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his native country. He served in the anti-aircraft artillery platoon of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He took part in battles in Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk regions. "Going to war was Hryhoriy's personal decision. I will remember his words for the rest of my life: 'Who will fight if not me? I will defend you, sisters, brothers, children, and grandchildren,'" said the deceased's sister Natalia Novokhatska. The serviceman was buried in his native Baturyn. Hryhoriy left behind his daughter Viktoria, grandchildren Lina and Ivan.
