Ihor D. Chechynov

Sergeant Ihor Chechynov was killed on October 28, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near Svatove in the Luhansk region. The defender was 52 years old. Ihor lived in the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk region. He was the president of the regional federation of hand-to-hand combat, the head of the sports club "Berkut," a coach-instructor at the regional comprehensive children's and youth sports school, and a national category judge in sambo wrestling and hand-to-hand combat. On the second day of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the local 109th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stood to defend his native Donbas. "Ihor Chechynov stood to defend his homeland for the bright and peaceful future of Donetsk region and Ukraine. He will forever remain in the memory of his students and all who knew him as a true patriot, devoted to his country and sport," noted the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Donetsk Regional State Administration. "Rest in peace, our dearest and best uncle. Soft clouds. We will never forget you. The best brother, son, uncle, and a person with a capital letter. We will miss you," wrote Victoria Ippolitova. "Rest in peace, our dear uncle, brother, son, dad… We will always remember you," wrote Yulia Revakovska. "Eternal memory to the hero. I was glad to have met you. In our memory, you will remain a good and just friend and coach," wrote Yevhen Kushakov. The serviceman was buried in Sloviansk.
