- Junior Sergeant Igor Rota (call sign Ded) was killed on February 26, 2022, defending the city of Mykolaiv. In a battle with Russian saboteurs, he received fatal shrapnel wounds. The defender was forever 52 years old. Igor was born in Tiraspol (Moldova). He spent most of his life in Mykolaiv. He obtained a secondary education. He had many professional skills, including being a driver and a shoe repair specialist. He was interested in cars and military affairs. In 2015, he participated in the ATO, defending the city of Mariupol, for which he was awarded a medal. With the start of the full-scale war, the man returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and again stood up to defend the country. He served in the 79th separate airborne assault brigade. He was a driver-electrician in the repair workshop. "I am very proud of my husband, his courage and bravery. He worthily defended Ukraine since 2015 in the ATO zone and from the first days of the war in 2022 he stood up for the defense of Mykolaiv, where he heroically was killed," said the wife of the fallen Lilia Prokofyeva. The warrior was buried in the cemetery near the village of Mishkovo-Pogorilov near Mykolaiv. Igor is survived by his wife Lilia, daughter Vladislava and son Vladislav.
