Ihor I. Dovbysh

Ihor Ivanovych Dovbysh was born on October 14, 1992, in the village of Desnianka, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region. In 2015, he graduated from the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine. He has been serving in the State Emergency Service since 2010. He held the position of head of the radiation and chemical protection department of the emergency rescue unit of the special purpose rescue squad of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Chernihiv region. On February 27, 2022, he was on combat duty. That day, Ihor participated in the elimination of the consequences of massive airstrikes and artillery shelling of residential buildings and critical infrastructure facilities, helped to clear the rubble, and provided assistance to the affected population. The next day, after his shift at 11:00 AM, while returning home from service in his own vehicle, he came under enemy artillery fire in Chernihiv. From the injuries sustained, Ihor died on the spot. Focused, responsible, professional, and reliable—this is how his colleagues and loved ones remember and honor the emergency worker. Ihor is survived by his orphaned parents.
