- Senior Lieutenant Ihor Hanushchak (call sign Karp) was killed on April 5, 2024. Prior to that, he sustained a mine-explosive injury while at combat positions at the Maiorska station in the Donetsk region. Ihor fought for his life for 12 days. Ihor Hanushchak was 57 years old. He was born in Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He studied at the local secondary school No. 1. Then he mastered the profession of a carpenter in a vocational school. He was well-versed in history, was a member of the "Kolomyians" society, was an active "Maidan activist" in 2004 and 2014. He sincerely believed in an independent and united Ukrainian state and sought to achieve it. He participated in all actions to preserve the national and cultural heritage of Kolomyia. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man went to the territorial recruitment center, and half a year later he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of platoon commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He defended Ukraine in the hottest spots of the Donetsk region. He was wounded twice, but returned to the war again. "My uncle was very loud and bright, but at the same time modest and unassuming. He laughed a lot, joked. He loved the mountains and taught me to love architecture. He loved God - sincerely and with all his heart. He was determined - he and my late grandmother built a house with their own hands. He loved life, loved to be in the spotlight, be socially and politically active, had his own opinion, which he could calmly, firmly, and prudently argue. He never humiliated and knew how to interest. Above all, he loved his daughter Nastia. She is his whole universe," wrote his niece Lesia Medvedchuk. The warrior was buried on the Alley of Glory in Kolomyia. Ihor is survived by his daughter Anastasia, brother Yurii, nephews, cousins, and many friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
