- Lieutenant Ihor Vityuk was killed on May 1, 2022, in a battle with Russian occupiers near Popasna in the Luhansk region. The officer was 39 years old. Ihor was born and lived in the village of Pavliv in the Lviv region. He studied at the local school. He then graduated from the Sumy Military Institute of Rocket Troops and Artillery. In civilian life, he worked at various enterprises. During the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel. He held the position of commander of a mortar battery. Along with his comrades, he defended Luhansk. “A person whom no one can replace for us. The best man, a caring dad,” noted the wife of the fallen. “He died as a hero, in the fight! The cursed war takes the best... Sincere condolences to his mother, wife, children, and sister. Rest in peace, warrior! Eternal memory! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!” — wrote in the Pavliv community. The officer was buried in his native village. At home, Ihor was awaited by his wife Halyna, son Maksym, daughter Anastasia, mother, and sister. Posthumously, Lieutenant Ihor Vityuk was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
