Ihor M. Izhyk (Banda)

Senior Lieutenant Ihor Izhik (call sign Banda) was killed in action on June 26, 2022, near the village of Vovchoiarivka in Luhansk region. While rescuing his comrades during an enemy artillery shelling, he himself received fatal injuries. He was 28 years old. Ihor Izhik was born in the village of Shtukovets, Lviv region. He graduated from the Lviv National Forestry University of Ukraine, stu at the military department. After graduation, he began working at the Borynska City Hospital, but after a few months, he was drafted into the army. After demobilization, he returned to work, was engaged in computer maintenance. In parallel, he was an entrepreneur, had his own grocery store. He also repaired phones, computers, and equipment, but usually did it for free. He loved his daughter more than anything. During the full-scale Russian invasion, in May 2022, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo. He held the position of company commander. He fought in Luhansk region. "The best husband and father. A zealous patriot. Ukraine was in his blood. Being a military man is probably his vocation. From the beginning of the war, he practically lived in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He said: "I am ready to die, but so that my child lives in a free country," - said the wife of the deceased Oksana. The warrior was buried in his native village in Lviv region. At home, Ihor's mother, sister, wife, daughter, relatives, and friends were waiting for him. Posthumously, the officer was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree.
