Ihor M. Lapin (Harik)

Senior soldier Igor Lapin (call sign Harik) was killed on June 18, 2024 during the assault near the village of Serhiivka in the Luhansk region. Eight days before this, the fighter turned 50 years old. Igor was born in the city of Okhtyrka, Sumy region. He received a complete general secondary education. He worked in the field of security services. He was engaged in restoration work on monuments of the Second World War. He was passionate about professional boxing. With the beginning of the full-scale war, the man joined the defense forces. At first, he was in the Territorial Defense Forces, and in December 2023 he was transferred to the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There he held the position of a grenade launcher. "Comrades-in-arms deeply honored and respected him for his courage, dedication to the cause, and ability to make clear decisions in the most difficult situations. During his service, Igor repeatedly saved the lives of his comrades-in-arms, demonstrating extraordinary courage and bravery. His heroism and dedication to the defense of his native land will forever remain in the memory of his family, friends and comrades-in-arms," wrote the deceased's daughter Alisa. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory near the central cemetery in the city of Okhtyrka. Igor left behind a wife, son and daughter.
